Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care.

Nutritional Therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and well-being.

Practising holistic, naturopathic nutrition means dealing with the whole person (not only with the presenting symptoms) and considering the important connection between our mental and physical health. Naturopathic nutrition encourages the body's natural self-healing mechanisms.

By looking at person's individual metabolic needs, we restore internal balance (homeostasis) by creating an individualised nutritional plan and appropriate lifestyle changes.

Nutritional consultations are evidence based, focusing on prevention, and personalised according to the client's biochemical uniqueness, culture, lifestyle and other influencing factors and not ‘one-size-fits-all’ advice following the health trend of the moment.

According to the Institute for Functional Medicine, we identify genetical predispositions, triggers and mediators - in other words what is causing the problem that client came to us with and what is preventing to resolve it. By deeply analysing all these factors and the client's unique metabolism, we then address root cause of the condition, rather than symptoms.

What to expect at the consultation

The initial consultation takes about 60 to 90 minutes. I ask questions about the client's symptoms, medical history, family history, diagnosis, treatments and lifestyle to be able to understand their unique situation and to identify any possible triggers of the symptoms that the client is concerned about. I discuss with the client their expectations from the consultation and what they would like to help with. After a deep analysis and careful considerations, I set up an achievable, individualised plan or protocols and I discuss any doubts with the client. Nutritional plan will include sample meals and any supplements recommendation if required.

The follow-up consultation usually takes between 45 to 60 minutes, where I discuss the progress with the client.

Everything discussed at the consultation is confidential as per Data Protection Act.
